Denel SOC (Ltd) is a South African state-owned commercially-driven company and a strategic partner for innovative defence, security and related technology solusions.

Denel has consolidated its aeronautical capability comprising of Denel Aerostructures (SOC) Ltd and Denel Aviation incorporating the Denel Training Academy. The consolidated capability is now known as Denel Aeronautics and it has over 50 years of experience within the global aerospace and aviation industry.

Located at the core of the Ekurhuleni Aerotropolis in the Gauteng Province of South Africa, Denel Aeronautics is the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) of the Rooivalk combat support helicopter, the Design Authority of the Oryx medium transport helicopter as well as the Design Authority of the Cheetah fighter aircraft.

Denel Aeronautics offers holistic aerospace and aviation services and product offerings. It provides aeronautical solutions that focus on the design, development, manufacturing, assembly and through-life-support of aircraft and related systems through worldwide partnerships. Denel Aeronautics comprises of the following core competencies namely Rotary and Fixed Wing as well as component Maintenance Repair and Overhaul (MRO), Engineering Services, Continued Airworthiness and System Integration Solutions, Aero Engine MRO and Aerostructure Manufacturing.

The aircraft facilities specialise in MRO inclusive of mechanical and avionic components MRO. Our specialisation extends to systems integration, upgrades and retrofit installations. The engineering services department includes design, development, industrialization and structural testing.

The Aerostructure Manufacturing has a world-class facility specializing in advanced manufacturing of complex aerostructures. It is the largest aerostructures facility in Africa and the first on the continent to be Nadcap accredited across multiple technology disciplines. Our capabilities include comprehensive design, industrialisation, advanced manufacturing and the assembly of ultra-light weight aerostructures for the global aerospace market.

Our highly skilled employees have enabled Denel Aeronautics to be a current design partner to Airbus Defence and Space and also participate in the commercial and military aircraft projects with OEMs such as Agusta Westland, BAE Systems, Boeing, SAAB and Gulfstream. Denel Aeronautics continues to surpass customer expectations with regard to on-time delivery, innovation, cost and adherence to quality standards, as proven on the Airbus A400M programme.
